Warming spices are a simple way to add flavor to your foods and support your health during the colder months. Along with enhancing flavor, they also can help warm the body, support digestion, reduce inflammation, and strengthen the immune system.a bowl of warm spices Many of these spices also contain antioxidants which help protect the body from illness and support overall wellness. Warm spices include ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, turmeric, cloves, and cardamom, to name a few.

What Are Warming Spices?

Warming spices are ingredients that help increase body heat through a process called thermogenesis, which can support metabolism and circulation. Cinnamon is known for its ability to help regulate blood sugar and support immune health. Ginger is commonly used to ease nausea and improve digestion. Turmeric is a powerful anti-inflammatory spice and is best absorbed by your body when combined with black pepper. Cloves may help relieve pain and also have anti-inflammatory properties. Cardamom can support immune function and adds a mild sweet flavor to foods and drinks. Nutmeg is often used in small amounts to provide a warm and comforting flavor in both sweet and savory dishes.

Warming spices are often used in both sweet and savory dishes. These spices pair well with both sweet and savory foods like soups, stews, lentils, smoothies, or desserts and can easily be added to everyday meals.
